This easy dutch oven recipe is a one pot meal for camping, made with fruit, rice and beef with chutney. Like our other easy camping recipes, the proportions in this recipe can be easily multiplied to feed more campers in your family or camping group.

• 2 lb/1 kg rump steak, diced thinly • 2 packets of dehydrated peas and corn • 2 cans x 14 oz/400gm diced tomatoes • 2 apples, diced chunkily • 2 cups sultanas • 2 tbsp chicken stock powder • 2 cups uncooked rice • 2 tbsp tomato paste • 1 cup chutney • 1 tbsp paprika • 5 cups water • salt and pepper to taste • 2 tsp sugar |
• Into a hot dutch oven, brown the thinly sliced meat • Add in rice grains and stir for a couple of minutes • Pour in all the other ingredients including the whole contents of the tins of diced tomatoes. Combine well on high heat for 5 minutes • Turn down heat to simmer. Cover the dutch oven with it's tight fitting lid. Cook till the rice is cooked, about 20 - 25 minutes |
