Truly, nothing could be simpler.
It takes minutes in preparation time and there is hardly any washing up. ...now these are the sort of easy recipes that I like!
OK...the secret is:
1. Don't scrimp on the liquid proportions - it may seem too "wet" but a lot of the moisture evaporates while being cooked. A lovely pudding is moist.
2. Some puddings take a long slow while to bake such as an egg custard. Some like our Quick Pud with treacle is ready in 20 minutes but the key to both is to never let them over cook. As soon as the pudding is just browned, remove from the oven.
3. Allow the pudding to rest for 5 - 10 minutes out of the oven before serving. It will continue to cook internally while resting.
4. Use of cream or ice-cream? We do so when there are visitors, but not for a family meal so as to limit our consumption of fats.
